Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay couldn't have chosen a better occasion to win their first title as a pair. They emerged victorious in the historic first-ever women's Premier Padel tournament by defeating the world number one duo in the final of this Major, in Rome.

"I am overjoyed by this victory," said Gemma Triay, "I still have goosebumps. It's incredible to be able to play here, let alone win. It was a historic final, the first Premier Padel final, and it's the first one that Marta and I have managed to win. Ari and Paula have been having an incredible season; we had never beaten them before. If we succeeded today, it's because we played exceptionally well. It has been an incredible week."

Almost moved to tears, Marta Ortega shared her emotions during the celebrations. "This is the best moment of my life and my career," she said. "This tournament was truly important to us. It was already a dream to reach the final, let alone win it. It was an extremely challenging match against a pair that is having a great year. But Gemma and I are doing excellent work together as a team, which allowed us to achieve such a result in such a short period. She is an incredible player, and it's fantastic to play alongside her.”

The Madrid native born in 1997 dedicated the victory to coach Maxi Grabiel, the man who put together the winning puzzle during the final and has always supported her, even during challenging times. "I had a tough year," explained the Spanish player, "but he has always been by my side, regardless of how things were going. He helped me overcome difficult moments. This win is for him, for my parents who are here in Rome, and for everyone who always makes me feel their support."
